Alan B. Hughes began serving as President of the Arkansas AFL-CIO in June of 1996. Prior to that, he served two years as Vice President of the State Federation. A member of Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy International Union (USW) Local 1327, he has held various local union offices, as well as President of the Texarkana Trades and Labor Council. In 2015, Alan was elected to serve as the Regional President of the Southern State Feds, which is made up of 13 states across the Southeastern U.S. Alan also serves on the State Board of Workforce Development. Alan lives in Bismarck and has three daughters and four grandchildren.
